About

Everything stated.

Veratis Home sells a small, fixed range of objects for the table and the room — stoneware, hand-blown glass, oak, linen and wool, solid brass, and honed stone. Around forty pieces. We would rather carry forty things we can describe completely than four hundred we cannot.

The organising idea is the material record. Every product page publishes what the piece is made of, what it measures, what it weighs, how it is finished, where it was made, how to care for it, and — the part most shops leave out — what it is not suitable for.

What we will not say

We publish no customer ratings, no counts of past buyers and no quoted endorsements. This is a new shop. Any number we printed would be one we had made up, and a shop that invents its praise will invent other things too. When real customers have written about these pieces, we will publish what they wrote and say where it came from.

We do not make claims about a material that we cannot support. Brass darkens. Unsealed stone stains. Linen creases. Hand-blown glass varies between pieces. None of that is a flaw to be photographed around, and all of it is written on the relevant product page rather than discovered after delivery.

We do not retouch photographs to change a colour or a texture. What varies between pieces is stated as varying. Screens differ, so a colour on your screen may still not match exactly — that we cannot fix, only disclose.

The seven materials

We work in a narrow range because a narrow range is one we can know properly. Each of these behaves in a specific and predictable way, and each is explained in full on its own page.

Stoneware
Fired to 1280°C, vitrified and non-porous. Chips rather than cracks, and holds heat far longer than porcelain.
Glass
Hand-blown soda-lime glass. Wall thickness varies by a fraction between pieces; bubbles are inclusions, not flaws.
Linen
European flax, stonewashed before cutting so the finished piece will not shrink further in normal use.
Brass
Solid CZ121 brass, unlacquered. It will darken and fingerprint. That is the material behaving correctly.
Stone
Marble and travertine, honed rather than polished. Porous by nature and sealed where it meets water.
Oak
European white oak, finished with a food-safe hardwax oil that can be reapplied at home indefinitely.
Wool
Lambswool and merino, woven in small runs. Warm without weight, and it recovers its shape after folding.
How each one behaves

If something goes wrong

Stoneware, glass and stone occasionally break in transit however well they are packed. Send a photograph within seven days and we replace or refund in full — you keep the broken piece, because posting it back helps nobody.

Returns are open for 45 days on unused pieces in their original packaging, refunded within five business days of reaching us.
