A dinner plate with a low, wide well and a narrow rim. The well holds a full plate of food without crowding the edge, and the rim is deliberately shallow so the plate stacks flat and takes up less cupboard depth than its diameter suggests.
Reduction firing gives the glaze its uneven, slightly cloudy surface. No two plates carry exactly the same tone, and the variation is more visible across a set of four than on a single piece. If you want perfectly matched plates, this is the wrong plate.
